Passo dei Ladroni route – Trail 513

It starts in Castel San Pietro Romano, near Santa Maria in Montirolo, and ends in Colle Cialdea (Capranica Prenestina) with a walk of about 6 km and a 400 m climb. The trail, now completely renovated, takes you through woods, gorges and scenic clearings, where on clear days you can see Rome in the distance. Along the road, an ancient boundary stone marks the meeting point between the lands of Castel San Pietro, Capranica and Poli.

The name ‘Passo dei Ladroni’ evokes the past of bandits who operated on the ancient border between the Papal States and the Kingdom of Naples. A walk that combines nature, history and legend, accessible with moderate effort.
